Effective June 12, 2018

You can now place your address on the Do Not Knock Registry. Once your address is registered with the Township, a listing of prohibited addresses will be provided to every current transient vendor permit holder or future applicant. Once you have registered, door to door solicitation as defined in Section 505.94 of the Ohio Revised Code is prohibited.

Chester Township requires every person or company, wishing to sell door to door to apply for a Transient Vendor Permit. This permit can only be obtained at the Chester Township Town Hall and every person or company that has been approved and paid their associated fees is also required to have a copy of the approved permit on them at all times.

If someone comes to your door and they either do not have a permit or they refuse to make it available, you are encouraged to contact our Police Department at 440-729-1234

This registry excludes those representing any entity exempt from taxation under Section 5709.04 of the Ohio Revised Code (i.e. students selling items for school fundraisers, Boy/Girl Scouts, etc.).

The Do Not Knock Registry does not apply to any person going door to door, that you personally invite onto your property.

How It Works

Once your address is added to the Do Not Knock Registry, your address stays on the list until:

  • The Township receives notice/request for removal; or
  • The Township receives notices that you are no longer residing at the registered address; or
  • On December 31st of the fifth full calendar year from the date that the address was submitted.
